AC/DC's Swiss concert sold out in just eight minutes. This was announced by the organizers on Friday. The hard rock band's first tour in almost eight years will take them to Zurich's Letzigrund Stadium on June 29.
As part of the "Power Up" tour, named after the last studio album, the band led by cult guitarist Angus Young will play 21 concerts in ten countries. The 47,000 tickets for the concert at Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich were sold out within eight minutes, the organizers wrote in a press release on Friday.
AC/DC made their live comeback last October at the "Powertrip" festival in California after a seven-year break. There had already been rumors about a tour beforehand. Last week, AC/DC further fueled speculation with a countdown on their website.
The 68-year-old band founder Angus Young, who always performs in school uniform, and 76-year-old singer Brian Johnson are the last remaining members of the AC/DC line-up that recorded "Back In Black" in 1980, one of the most successful albums in music history. Rhythm guitarist Stevie Young succeeded band founder Malcolm Young, who fell ill in 2014 and died in 2017.
New to the band is 55-year-old drummer Matt Laug, who performed with the group for the first time last year at the "Power Trip" festival. The 53-year-old former Jane's Addiction bassist Chris Chaney also replaces Cliff Williams, who has retired.
The European tour also takes the rockers to Germany, Italy and England.
