A 32-year-old woman has been standing before the regional court of first instance in Bern since Wednesday morning. She is accused of murdering her daughter in February 2022 for particularly reprehensible and selfish reasons.

The accused had acted particularly unscrupulously and lured her unsuspecting daughter into the nearby forest on the evening of the crime, to a "hiding place" that the two had once built together out of branches.

There, the mother had beaten her daughter to death with a stone. The eight-year-old girl was physically inferior to her mother and at her mercy. The public prosecutor's office describes the crime, which the accused has so far denied, as particularly brutal, cold-blooded and cruel.

The indictment assumes that the mother had difficulties coping with life as a single parent. The indictment mentions relationship problems and the fact that the woman was unable to satisfy her need to go out and party. She is said to have perceived her daughter as an obstacle.
