The scientific advisory board would have liked to see a clearer focus on the former owners of the works in the Bührle exhibition. The new orientation at the Kunsthaus Zürich, which also addresses controversial issues, is not enough for him.

Emil Bührle continues to be the focus of the exhibition, Stefanie Mahrer of the advisory board told the media at the Kunsthaus on Thursday. The advisory board thinks that the stories of the former owners, who were victims of the National Socialists, are only insufficiently presented.

The Kunsthaus director, Ann Demeester, clarified that Bührle was the common thread. But the stories of the previous owners would be illuminated in a room that contains controversial art.

The seven-member scientific advisory board resigned because of the difference of opinion.

The newly designed Bührle exhibition will be open to the public from November 3. The controversial collection has been on permanent loan to the Kunsthaus since 2021.
