The delegates of the Alliance of Swiss Women's Organizations Alliance F are in favour of the occupational pension reform. The reform is a compromise, but a major step forward compared to the current situation. In particular, the system error of the fixed coordination deduction will disappear.
The decision in favor of the bill was made by 81 votes to 15, as Alliance F announced after the delegates' meeting in Bern. The referendum is planned for the fall. In addition to a higher pension, especially for part-time employees and low salaries, the reform would insure significantly more women against disability, according to the Alliance F.
The abolition of the fixed coordination deduction also fulfills a more than 30-year-old demand of the Alliance F. Instead of the fixed deduction, the reform leaves one fifth of the salary uninsured.
This would reduce the pension gap between women and men, wrote Allance F. The umbrella organization also referred to a study it commissioned, according to which 275,000 women would receive a higher pension and 67,000 a lower one.
The SP Women, who are also members of Alliance F, regretted the decision. The pension fund reform would lead to pension losses for many women. Previous reforms have shown that lowering the conversion rate and entry threshold reduces the net income of lower earners and does not guarantee a higher retirement income.
