The delegates of the Young Socialists Switzerland (Juso) are calling for a minimum wage, inflation compensation and better support for apprenticeships. They also adopted the slogans for the votes on June 9 and passed resolutions on international issues.
The minimum wage for female and male apprentices should be CHF 1,000 per month in the first year of their apprenticeship, the Juso announced on Sunday. Ten weeks' vacation should also be added. The reason given was that too many apprentices are poorly paid and poorly supervised.
At the same time, the Young People's Party called for the regulation and ultimate dismantling of exploitative employment relationships such as those at Uber. The young party also called for a 13th IV pension to be added to the 13th AHV pension.
In the vote on June 9, the Young Socialists recommended a Yes to their parent party's premium relief initiative and a No to the centrist cost-cutting initiative. In the resolutions adopted, the party called for a halt to military cooperation with Israel and demanded an end to exploitation in eastern Congo, a ban on conversion measures and a No to the free trade agreement with India.
