Arena di Verona is pleased with audience and revenue growth

The Arena di Verona can draw a positive balance of the 2024 summer season. 417,354 spectators attended the 50 performances of the 101st Opera Festival.
The total income of 33.6 million euros is the highest in the history of the festival, according to the Arena di Verona Foundation, which organizes the opera festival. The festival in the Arena is a magnet for opera lovers from all over the world.
With 8627 spectators per performance (compared to 8219 in the previous year), 2024 also represented the best result in terms of average attendance at opera performances in the arena. 57 percent of the season's audience were foreigners.
The top country of origin was Germany, followed by Austria, the UK, Switzerland, the USA and France. The average age of the audience was 49.6 years, but the number of young people grew. The number of visitors under the age of 40 increased by 8 percent, the festival organizers announced.
A total of 120 singers, dancers and conductors took to the stage at the festival. A total of 35 debuts were reported in the Verona Arena.
A new feature of this season was a major concert at the opening on June 7, with which the Arena celebrated the recognition of Italian opera as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. The concert featured 150 musicians and 300 choir members from all the major Italian opera theaters under the direction of Riccardo Muti.
