Apprenticeship vacancies are currently being filled for summer 2024. Initial estimates from the cantons indicate that the number of apprenticeship vacancies will be comparable to previous years. Some cantons are reporting that a high birth cohort is entering basic vocational training.
Across Switzerland, almost 26,000 apprenticeship contracts had been concluded by the end of January 2024, as announced by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) on Monday. Around 31,800 apprenticeships are currently advertised on the berufsberatung.ch portal in the cantons' official apprenticeship register for the start of 2024. New apprenticeship vacancies are constantly being added.
In German-speaking Switzerland, apprenticeships are traditionally more advanced. In Latin Switzerland, the recruitment process starts later.
