Around 55,000 children listened to this year's Swiss Read Aloud Day, and almost 8,000 people read aloud at 400 public events. This was announced by the organizers on Thursday.

The focus of the 7th Swiss Read Aloud Day, which took place on Wednesday, was on intergenerational reading aloud. One example of this was the event at the Elsau library near Winterthur. Senior citizens selected books together with children and read them to each other, according to a press release from the Swiss Institute for Child and Youth Media (SIKJM).

Together with other partners, the Institute is the initiator of Swiss Read Aloud Day. The participation figures for the current year are on a par with previous years. The 8th Swiss Read Aloud Day is planned for May 21, 2025.
