On Tuesday morning, the Swiss Federal Celebration began at the Rütli UR with hundreds of young people. The theme "#Jugendrütli" was intended to motivate young people to participate in democracy in the coming years. The Swiss Non-Profit Society (SGG) invited the young generation to the celebration, noting that young people are most affected by political decisions and are underrepresented in voting and elections compared to other age groups. The Dachverband Schweizer Jugendparlamente and the Schweizerische Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Jugendverbände were also invited to the event. Workshops were held to discuss the opportunities for participation, the advantages and limitations of democracy, and mental health. Members of the Zeta Movement movement spoke about the psychological stress that young adults and teenagers have been exposed to during the coronavirus pandemic. They encouraged participants to think about their current emotional state and to be aware of their friends and acquaintances. After lunch, Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider was expected to give her festive speech at the Rütli. Afterwards, she was scheduled to talk to the youth associations. The event was intended to motivate young people to participate in democracy and to raise awareness of mental health issues.nn
