The Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (Sust) has determined the cause of the fatal plane crash at Gloggentürmli in the canton of Uri in 2021. The pilot collided with the terrain in the Gotthard region due to inadequate weather conditions.
The then 60-year-old German national was traveling alone in a Mooney M20J light aircraft with four seats, according to the Sust report published on Friday. He intended to fly from Donaueschingen-Villingen to Locarno to meet his partner there. Rescue workers were able to recover the wreckage of the plane and the body the day after the crash following an extensive search.
