Basel Zoo can celebrate the birth of a giraffe in its 150th year of existence. The already 83-kilogram bull, named Vizuri, was born healthy, as Basel Zoo announced on Wednesday.
The name Vizuri means "beautiful" or "good" in Swahili, according to the press release. For the time being, however, visitors can only see this for themselves to a limited extent. In order to give mother Sophie and the little one some peace and quiet, the antelope house will remain partially closed. From time to time, however, Vizuri can be observed in the outdoor enclosure.
