On Tuesday, the Ticino crisis management team lifted the ban on swimming in the Maggia and Lake Maggiore with immediate effect. A microbiological test of the water had produced good results.
Nevertheless, the Ticino emergency staff continue to recommend bathing only in clear water and avoiding murky areas with large amounts of floating debris. As there is still flotsam in the waters, the water quality will continue to be monitored, the emergency staff wrote on Monday.
Following the severe storms ten days ago, the Ticino crisis management team imposed a bathing ban on the Maggia and Lake Maggiore in Locarno, Ascona and Tenero last Thursday.
