According to Social Affairs Minister Elisabeth Baume-Schneider, it is important to clarify the financing of the 13th AHV pension quickly. The Federal Council wants to fulfill its responsibility. "This is what the people want."
Baume-Schneider told the media in Bern on Wednesday that some of the key figures now presented had been brought into play by supporters and opponents of a supplementary pension during the referendum campaign and after the referendum Sunday. "Financing was not a taboo."
The Federal Council has not yet decided on a variant. "A variant is a variant." The Federal Council has no preference. It is clear that a balanced solution is needed.
The fact that the 13th AHV pension is to be paid once a year is in line with the intention of the initiators, said Baume-Schneider. It is likely that the payment will be made at the end of the year.
