Bells ring for peace in Nidwalden

Church bells rang throughout the canton of Nidwalden on Sunday as a sign of peace. The regional churches wanted to express their concern about the war in Ukraine and call for peaceful coexistence.
The ringing in the Catholic and Reformed churches began at 11 a.m. and lasted eight minutes. This time was chosen because the conference on the Bürgenstock in the canton of Nidwalden was still in progress at that time.
The Nidwalden cantonal government supported the churches' campaign. It was important for the canton hosting the peace conference to send out its own signal, it said.
