The cities of Bern and Biel want to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. They will submit a joint bid under the slogan "Bern United", as announced by the City of Bern on Thursday.
Bern's municipal council approved a loan of seven million francs for costs that the city could incur in connection with the major event. The city parliament still has to decide on the loan.
The ESC 2025 is to be held in Bern's new Festhalle, which is currently under construction. Other events related to the major event could take place in the Tissot Arena in Biel/Bienne.
The ESC 2025 will take place in Switzerland after Nemo from Biel won this year's edition. The SRG will decide which city will take part. The bids from Geneva, Basel and Zurich are already known.
