Once again, the Museum of Communication is bringing together the best Swiss press drawings of the year. An ironic look at the challenges, big and small, that Switzerland had to face in 2023.
Around 50 press illustrators and over 200 works can be seen in the "Drawn" exhibition at the Museum of Communication from December 15 to January 25. The war in Ukraine resonates just as much as global warming, the abuse scandals in the Catholic Church and the social woke debate.
Press drawing is the art of getting to the heart of daily events in a humorous way. The Museum of Communication writes on its website that it is not uncommon for a single drawing to capture the essence of a story better than a detailed explanation.
Humor offers easy access to topics, but the food that the press cartoonists process is not easy to digest. Sometimes the laughter gets stuck in your throat. The illustrators always hold up a mirror to society.
