The Beratungsstelle für Unfallverhütung (BFU) has released a picture book in two versions for school and home to coincide with the start of the school year in several cantons. Every year, 900 children and adolescents are injured in traffic accidents, 40% of them on their way to school. Four children die annually in traffic accidents, according to the BFA. For children, the school route is an important factor in their social development. They must also learn to behave correctly in traffic. According to the BFU, the school route is basically the responsibility of the parents. In order to prevent accidents, it is important that all parties pull together. The new picture book offers a hand in this cooperation. The picture book shows that children should walk on the inside of the pavement if they don't want to get wet in the rain. It also takes up the old principle of "wait, let go, look, run". The rules are conveyed by the characters Lia, Luca and the parrot Pep. The version for school is enriched with songs, tasks, games and other teaching materials. In addition, the BFU advises parents to practice the school route with their children and to choose the safest route.nnnnnnnn
