Nemo's home town of Biel/Bienne BE celebrated Switzerland's victory at the Eurovision Song Contest on Sunday night. Cultural Director Glenda Gonzalez Bassi (SP) also watched the spectacle at the public viewing in the town center.

The victory means a lot to the city, she told the Keystone-SDA news agency on Sunday. "We are very proud of Nemo." Having grown up and been educated in Biel, Nemo sends the image of a positive and dynamic youth out into the world.

"We often hear how troublesome today's youth is, but Nemo proves the opposite and is therefore an important figure for Biel, but also for Switzerland and for the whole of Europe," said Gonzalez Bassi.

There are no concrete plans yet for a reception or party in the city. "We clearly have the will to organize something, but that now depends largely on Nemo's agenda."

It remains to be seen which Swiss city will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. The ball is in SRG's court, recalled Gonzalez Bassi. "We are ready for dialog, but nothing has been discussed yet and it is not our decision."

Nemo dreams of ESC in Biel

"I would love it if the ESC 2025 could take place in Biel/Bienne," Nemo said at a media conference that night. "The problem could be that it would need at least 10,000 hotel rooms, and Biel has maybe 500."

But if every household took in someone, it might be enough, Nemo added. Creative solutions are needed. And otherwise, perhaps the opening ceremony in Biel could simply take place.
