More areas for insects, networking of habitats and more support for municipalities and cantons to promote biodiversity in villages and towns: The Federal Council wants to achieve more biodiversity by 2030 with measures like these.

On Wednesday, it adopted the second phase of the Biodiversity Action Plan. This is aimed at the years 2025 to 2030 and is based on the Biodiversity Strategy. The primary aim is to fill gaps and contribute to achieving the goals of the new global biodiversity framework.

The action plan initially includes 15 measures, as stated in the Federal Council's press release. A total of CHF 24 million is available for this purpose up to 2030. The Federal Council wants other federal offices to also develop and implement measures for biodiversity. These will then supplement the action plan.
