Georges Kern, head of the luxury watch brand Breitling, has joined Soeder. This was announced by the Zurich-based soap manufacturer on Thursday (yesterday). Kern then confirmed his support on the Linkedin platform.
Kern will be available to Soeder as an investor and board member, the company said, adding that "his investment and commitment will open up new markets for us". The amount of the financing was not disclosed.
The soap manufacturer is now planning to increase production volumes and enter into global partnerships. Soeder moved into a new production facility in the SBB workshops in Zurich Altstetten in the summer.
According to the online portal "Tippinpoint", the company recently suffered from financial bottlenecks. Soeder has laid off employees, which the company confirmed at the portal's request. This involved a "small number of colleagues". However, when asked by the news agency AWP, no one at Soeder could be reached for comment on this issue.
Soeder was founded in Zurich in 2013 by a couple from Sweden. It has specialized in natural soaps since 2015. The range now also includes face creams, disinfectants and shampoos.
Kern, for his part, recently made headlines with his resignation from the Zurich Green Liberals. The Breitling boss was previously an important donor to the party.
