Cassis: “Negotiating delegation is ready to start work”

Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis wants to start talks with the EU as soon as the Federal Council has approved the negotiating mandate. "Our delegation is ready to start work - probably this month."
Cassis said this to the media in Bern on Friday. The way is now open to quickly start negotiations with the EU. The aim is to stabilize and further develop relations with Switzerland's most important economic partner.
In an increasingly unstable world, it is crucial to have stable relations with neighboring countries, said Cassis. Switzerland's prosperity is high, but under pressure due to several global crises. It was therefore "essential" to maintain relations with the EU.
