According to Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis, the internal market agreements guarantee legal certainty for Swiss companies as well as those from the EU. The dynamic adoption of law also respects "the procedures enshrined in the Swiss constitution".

In addition, the dynamic adoption of legislation is limited to the five Bilaterals I agreements and the newly added agreements on electricity and food safety, Cassis told the media in Bern on Friday.

Mr. Cassis also spoke about the cohesion contribution: "With its contribution, Switzerland has been helping to reduce economic and social inequality in the European Union and to manage migration movements since 2007," he continued. "At the same time, this contribution directly strengthens relations with selected member states of the European Union, which is of course also in the bilateral interest," said the Foreign Minister.

Other non-EU member states such as Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland make a higher contribution as they are more integrated into the single market. With the contribution of CHF 130 million per year between 2025 and 2029 and CHF 350 million per year between 2030 and 2036, Switzerland is "investing in stability and cohesion in Europe", continued Cassis.

These conditions are important for the functionality of the EU internal market, "which also helps Switzerland's prosperity and security", said Cassis.
