Aargau schoolchildren have helped design a new tour of the Aargauer Kunsthaus. With the help of a tablet, visitors can marvel at works from the collection that were digitally prepared as part of the "From the classroom to the Kunsthaus" project.
Pupils from kindergarten to year 6 have, for example, turned a Hodler figure into a footballer or transferred an Anker girl into the 21st century, according to the Kunsthaus.
As part of a collaboration with the University of Teacher Education of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) and various school classes, a multimedia tour has been created based on works from the Kunsthaus collection. The augmented reality (AR) creations are made visible via a tablet that the museum lends out for the tour.
Primary school teacher Nathalie Schoch is quoted as saying that the project was "very productive in many respects". Her pupils were able to "apply a wide range of skills and make enormous progress".
Proven instrument for art education
The Aargauer Kunsthaus has been successfully using AR as an educational tool since 2021, as the museum explains. AR offers the opportunity to present other perspectives. A further project in collaboration with Fantoche, the international festival for animated film in Baden, Aargau, is in preparation.
The tour "From the classroom to the Kunsthaus" is available at the Aargauer Kunsthaus from May 30 to October 27. The loan of tablets for the tour is included in the admission fee.
