The largest Swiss children's book publisher Nordsüd is taking over Edition Bi Libri in Germany at the beginning of 2024. The Zurich and Munich publishers have been working together since 2008.
Kristy Koth will remain Managing Director of Bi Libri, as Nordsüd announced on Monday. Bi Libri is one of the first German publishing houses to specialize in bilingual and multilingual children's books. The bilingual books are designed to support bilingual children in their language development.
"There is great potential in the multilingualism of picture books," Nordsüd publisher Herwig Bitsche was quoted as saying in the press release. Bi Libri has two employees and was founded in 2004.
Nordsüd-Verlag is known for the children's books "Der Regenbogenfisch" by Marcus Pfister and "Lars, der kleine Eisbär" by Hans de Beer, among others. Both works have sold millions of copies. The publishing house was founded in 1961 and employs 20 people. Kathrin Siegenthaler's "Wie de Samichlaus zu sim Schmutzli cho isch" is currently on the bestseller list for children and young people.
