Prices for Swiss Christmas trees are likely to remain stable this year, Philipp Gut, Managing Director of the industry association IG Suisse Christbaum, told the news agency AWP.

However, prices for imported trees could rise. According to Gut, producers in Denmark had to contend with the wet weather. The wet soil made harvesting more difficult.

Although there was also a comparatively large amount of rain in Switzerland, domestic producers were less affected, Gut continued. In Switzerland, the fields are significantly smaller than abroad and there is also a greater reliance on manual labor. However, transportation is sometimes more difficult than usual.

Swiss wholesalers are also expecting a stable price trend for domestic trees. Due to price increases and inflation in the EU, imported trees are likely to become slightly more expensive, according to Landi.

Prices at Coop and its DIY subsidiary Jumbo are also expected to remain stable. Only larger trees could become more expensive, as the persistently high logistics costs would have a greater impact, according to an inquiry.

The Migros cooperatives do not present a uniform picture. Prices have developed differently depending on the region: "Some prices have remained the same as in previous years, some prices have fallen and some prices have risen," said a spokesperson.
