Following the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights, the climate strike is calling Swiss politicians to account. Today's decision does not give the parliaments a good report card, it said in a press release on Tuesday.

"Climate targets are being missed worldwide today. This has a direct impact on our lives and those of future generations. If we have to use the courts to force parliaments not to destroy our livelihoods, this is an indictment of poverty, but a necessary evil," writes the climate strike.

"We expect the Federal Council and Parliament to set everything in motion to meet the global target of limiting the temperature rise to 1.5 degrees" and "We cannot afford to spend another ten years fighting in court until the urgency of the climate crisis is legally recognized and action is taken accordingly," various representatives of the climate strike were quoted as saying in the communiqué.
