The Competition Commission (ComCo) no longer considers Swisscom to be dominant in the market for address directories. It is therefore discontinuing proceedings.
Swisscom Directories was the publisher of the printed telephone directory in Switzerland for decades. Today it operates the online telephone directories Local.ch and Search.ch.
In 2019, it realigned its offering for the registration of companies on these platforms. Among other things, the prices were increased. This led to numerous complaints from companies and a competitor, writes the Competition Commission on Tuesday.
However, the investigation has now revealed that affected customers have switched to comparable address directory services from Google and Bing and that entries on Local.ch and Search.ch have lost much of their importance. According to the Competition Commission, competition was therefore delayed.
Swisscom Directories is therefore no longer dominant in this area, which means that the conditions for intervention by the Competition Commission no longer apply. According to the information provided, the decision can be appealed to the Federal Administrative Court.
