The Zurich Green Party National Councillor Katharina Prelicz-Huber should be protected by immunity from investigations into defamation and unfair competition. This is the opinion of the responsible National Council committee. Now it is the turn of the Council of States committee.
The public prosecutor's office in Bern wants to waive the immunity of National Councillor Prelicz-Huber and open criminal proceedings against her. The politician has been charged with defamation against the IV expert Pmeda and violation of the Federal Act against Unfair Competition.
The immunity committee of the National Council (IC-N) has accepted the request of the public prosecutor's office of the Canton of Bern without a countermotion, as the parliamentary services announced on Thursday.
It then decided by 5 votes to 4 not to waive Prelicz-Huber's immunity. The politician had the right to point out grievances. The institutional interests were to be given greater weight than the interests in connection with criminal prosecution.
