The Halbierungsinitiative, or "200 Franken sind genug!" initiative, has been submitted to the Swiss Federal Chancellery on Thursday. This initiative aims to reduce the radio and television fees from 335 Swiss Francs per household and year to 200 Swiss Francs. The initiative was launched by the Swiss People's Party, the Swiss Trade Association and the Young Liberals. Opponents of the initiative argue that it is an attack on democracy, as it would lead to a decrease in Swiss radio and television. The initiative follows the "No Billag" initiative, which was rejected by the Swiss electorate in March 2018 with 71.6 percent of the vote. This initiative aimed to abolish the fees altogether. In February 2022, the electorate also rejected the media package, which would have provided additional funding for various media types.nnnnnn
