Dalí painting auctioned in Basel for almost three million francs

At the Beurret - Bailly - Widmer auction of modern and contemporary art in Basel, Salvador Dalí's painting "Solitude paranoïaque-critique" was knocked down for 2.4 million francs.

Including the surcharge for the auction house, the unnamed European collector had to pay 2.97 million francs for the 1935 painting, which measures just 19 by 23 centimetres. The estimated price was between 1.5 and 2 million francs.

All in all, the auction house achieved a total result of 7 million francs on June 19, as it announced on Monday
