The Swiss Armed Forces and the Danish Air Force will be practising together at St. Stephan airfield in the Simmental in the Bernese Oberland in the middle of the week. A Danish Air Force transport aircraft will be flown in for the training exercise.
Three to six take-offs and landings of the Hercules C-130J transport aircraft are planned for next Wednesday and Thursday, the army wrote on Monday. The exercise is based on international military training cooperation.
According to the press release, international cooperation is particularly important in order to strengthen the Swiss Armed Forces' defense capabilities.
According to the Danish Air Force on the Internet, the Hercules C-130J can transport up to 120 people or around 20 tons of freight. One of the aircraft's strengths is its ability to take off and land on short and primitive runways. It has a wingspan of around 40 meters and is over 34 meters long.
