According to the authorities, one person has been killed in an Israeli attack in southern Lebanon. The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that another person had been injured in the attack in Chiam near the border with Israel.
The Israeli military stated that it had registered movements by Hezbollah members in southern Lebanon. Israel's air force had attacked them. Hezbollah, which is supported by Iran, did not comment.
Israel and Hezbollah only agreed on a ceasefire at the end of November. The painstakingly negotiated agreement stipulates, among other things, that Hezbollah will withdraw behind the Litani River around 30 kilometers north of the Israeli-Lebanese border in accordance with UN Resolution 1701. The Lebanese army is to monitor compliance with the agreement. Israel's ground troops are to gradually withdraw from Lebanon within 60 days.
