Deep Purple, Sting and Duran Duran will be among those performing at this year's edition of the Montreux Jazz Festival, the organizers announced on Thursday. The festival takes place from July 5 to 20.
Other acts announced include "The Smashing Pumpkins", "Massive Attack" and "The National". This year, more than ever before, the organizers are focusing on evenings with a double, complementary line-up, said festival director Mathieu Jaton at the media conference.
The new wave musicians from Duran Duran will be performing with the duo Soft Cell. The latter are known for their hit "Tainted Love". Jaton is also particularly looking forward to the combination of "PJ Harvey" and "The National".
Because the Congress Center is being renovated, the 58th edition will take place with the main stage on Lake Geneva and in the iconic Casino. There will also be a free program along the extended lakeshore.
