The Lucerne jewelry robber's defense lawyer demanded a partial acquittal at the criminal court on Wednesday. He said that his client could only be held responsible for one of the two robberies at the Gübelin company.
The 46-year-old is accused of robbing the jewelry store on Lucerne's Schwanenplatz in 2017 and 2019 and making a haul worth CHF 3 million and CHF 20 million respectively. The public prosecutor demanded a prison sentence of eleven years and an expulsion order of 15 years for the Montenegrin. The defense lawyer pleaded for a sentence of seven years and an expulsion from the country for ten years.
His client accepts responsibility for the 20 million robbery and two robbery attempts on Gübelin, said the defense lawyer. However, he opposed being held responsible for every robbery of Gübelin.
The defense lawyer said that the 2017 robbery was based on suspicions and circumstantial evidence. However, it was not possible to identify the perpetrator beyond doubt.
