Yves Donzallaz (non-party) is no longer standing for election as President of the Federal Supreme Court for the 2025/2026 term of office. The plenary assembly of ordinary federal judges has proposed François Chaix (FDP) for election as the new President of the Federal Supreme Court.
This was revealed in a press release published by the Federal Supreme Court on Tuesday. The nominations will be submitted to the United Federal Assembly, which will elect the President and Vice-President of the Federal Supreme Court for the term of office from 2025 to 2026 in the winter session.
Chaix is currently Vice President of the Federal Supreme Court. Federal judge Francesco Parrino (SP) is being proposed for election as his successor. By law, the President and Vice-President also sit on the Administrative Commission of the Federal Supreme Court.
On Monday, the full court appointed federal judge Marianne Ryter (SP) as the third member of the Administrative Tribunal. She was elected as a federal judge in June 2021 and was previously President of the Federal Administrative Court in St. Gallen.
