Eleven innovative climate projects and technologies have received CHF 1.7 million from the Swiss Climate Foundation. Together with the funding awarded in the spring, the foundation awarded a total of CHF 2.4 million to 17 projects this year.
For example, the foundation is supporting a company from Gossau SG that is using a submarine-like robot to make the water supply more sustainable, the foundation wrote in a press release on Wednesday. A lot of drinking water is lost every year due to outdated or broken pipes. The submarine can monitor the condition of the water pipes and identify potential weak points at an early stage.
In Renens VD, another company has developed a sustainable process to reduce food waste and CO2 emissions from fresh produce after harvesting, the foundation announced. A natural coating is used to extend the shelf life of fresh fruit, vegetables and cut flowers.
The Swiss Climate Foundation has been supporting technologies and projects from small and medium-sized companies that contribute to climate protection for 15 years. The Swiss Climate Foundation's commitment is supported by 31 companies, the foundation wrote in a press release on Wednesday.
