Emmanuel Macron and his wife have landed in Bern-Belp

French President Emmanuel Macron, his wife Brigitte and their entourage have landed in Bern-Belp. The plane carrying the high-ranking visitor from the neighboring country touched down shortly before 2 pm.
President Alain Berset received the French delegation at the airport, as a reporter from the Keystone-SDA news agency observed. Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, Research Minister Sylvie Retailleau, Industry Minister Roland Lescure and State Secretary Laurence Boone, who is responsible for European affairs, were also announced as part of the delegation.
In keeping with tradition, the entire Federal Council then receives the presidential couple on the Bundesplatz in Bern with military honors. This is followed by the official welcoming speeches in the lobby of the Federal Palace before the political discussions take place in the Bernerhof.
On the second day of their visit, President Alain Berset and his French counterpart visit the Jean Monnet Foundation in Lausanne. The archives of the pioneer of European unification are kept there.
