The Gotthard mountain route is available for internal traffic, while transit traffic is being diverted to the Lötschberg or the road. Customers have been informed and an additional freight train can run per hour on the Lötschberg due to capacity constraints. The Brenner route is not available as an alternative due to construction work. The SBB could benefit from the main holiday period in Italy, as the freight traffic is expected to be quiet during Ferragosto.
