EPF Lausanne partially evacuated after carbon monoxide alarm

Around 100 people had to evacuate an ETH Lausanne building on Wednesday morning due to a carbon monoxide alarm. No one was injured. Eight people were exposed to the deadly gas, but did not require medical treatment.

The gas alarm went off at around 10 a.m., according to the Vaud cantonal police. The Centre Est of the university was evacuated. A road in the center of the university campus was temporarily closed. Initial investigations point to work on the building as the cause of the air pollution.

The fire department used a blower system to remove the carbon monoxide. In addition to firefighters, several ambulances, police officers and the chemical department were deployed.
