On Thursday, the second defense lawyer for the former Elvetino boss called for a civil claim to be dismissed on the second day of the trial at the Zurich District Court: No damage at all had been caused to the SBB catering company.
For example, the use of an external consultant from Elevtino AG, which was criticized by the public prosecutor, had not caused any unnecessary expenses, the defence lawyer stated. Thanks to the consultant, savings could have been made in merchandise management. A daily fee of CHF 2,500 was not unusual for a consultant.
The public prosecutor accuses the former Elvetino boss of, among other things, mismanagement and fraud. He is alleged to have received 20 percent of his fees back as kick-back payments from his friend, whom he hired as a consultant, and to have sold overpriced catering articles from China to Elvetino AG via another friend's company.
The pleas of the defense lawyers of two co-defendants will follow in court on Thursday. The verdicts are expected to be delivered later.
