The Swiss Zwetschgen harvest has begun in early August and will last until 10th September. The Swiss Fruit Association expects around 3000 tons of stone fruit, with high quality and sweet fruits due to the high temperatures. Unfortunately, there have been some strong hailstorms in the Wallis and parts of Eastern Switzerland. 400 tons of Zwetschgen will be available in the market each week, with 2.6% of it being organic. The most popular variety is the Fellenberg-Zwetschgen, which will be available from Tuesday. The main harvest of Fellenberg-Zwetschgen will take place from 21st August to 9th September. Zwetschgen are grown in all fruit-growing regions of Switzerland, with each person consuming around 1.5 kg of the purple fruits per year. According to the Fruit Association, Zwetschgen contain many vitamins which strengthen the nervous system and immune system.nnnnnnnn
