External Support for Fire Department in Bitsch VS

Over the weekend, 165 firefighters from outside the canton of Valais were deployed to Bitsch to help fight the forest fire. Teams from Bern, Zurich, Ticino, Glarus, Lucerne and Basel were present, with additional resources from almost all other cantons in reserve. Each team of 5-6 firefighters was supported by a local guide and a flight assistant. The operations are now being evaluated and the lessons learned will be shared across Switzerland. The firefighters worked to locate and extinguish any remaining embers, and their efforts were successful in containing the fire. The deployment of personnel from outside the canton was a testament to the solidarity of the Swiss firefighting community, and the importance of sharing knowledge and resources to ensure the safety of all.nn
