The delegates of the FDP Switzerland are backing the reform of occupational pensions. On Saturday in Möriken AG, they clearly adopted the Yes slogan for the federal referendum on September 22. The No position was taken on the biodiversity initiative.
The delegates voted in favor of the pension fund reform by 272 votes to 2. It was a good and important reform, the meeting was told. The reform was a political compromise.
The BVG reform is intended to make occupational pensions fit for the future. Due to the ageing of society, pension funds currently have to spend more money on financing current pensions than was previously saved by employers and employees.
This leads to a redistribution from the working generation to the pensioner generation. Among other things, the reform provides for the conversion rate of the saved capital to be reduced from 6.8 percent to 6 percent. This will lead to a reduction in pensions.
Against more biodiversity
The FDP delegates voted 256 to 5 against the biodiversity initiative, which will also be put to a popular vote on September 22.
The "For the future of our nature and landscape" initiative launched by several environmental organizations calls for greater protection of nature and landscape as well as more land and money to strengthen biodiversity.
