The FDP Switzerland is discussing a position paper on elementary school at its delegates' meeting in Möriken AG this Saturday. It envisages fundamental changes. For the FDP, elementary school is "at the limit".
The position paper states that inclusive schools should be abolished. Pupils' weaknesses should be targeted and individually supported. Early French and early English should also be removed from the timetable.
School grades should remain because of the performance principle. The paper states that elementary school should primarily teach the basic skills of reading, writing and arithmetic. Elementary school should not follow every social trend.
Foreign-language children should consistently learn the local language before starting school. There should be fewer forms and more lessons at school. The position paper, entitled "Back to the educational mission", lists 17 areas for action.
At their meeting, the delegates also adopt the slogans on the two proposals for the federal referendum on September 22. These are the pension fund reform and the biodiversity initiative.
