“Federal Square and Federal Street are Closed”

On Wednesday afternoon, the Bundesplatz and Bundesgasse were closed off by the cantonal police. The reason for the closure was initially unclear. A single vehicle was seen on the Bundesplatz, according to a reporter from Keystone-SDA. Three police officers searched the area shortly before noon. Shortly afterwards, the staff of the Federal Administration had to evacuate the West Federal House, as sources from the Federal Administration confirmed. The police had no further information on the situation at noon on Wednesday. The Bundesplatz had been closed off about two weeks ago due to a suspicious object, which turned out to be harmless.
