Film producer Robert Boner is to receive the 2024 Honorary Award. The award will be presented to the 75-year-old at the Swiss Film Awards ceremony on 22 March in Zurich, as the organizers announced on Tuesday.
The award honors a key figure in Swiss film, according to the press release. Boner has produced over 50 films. These include the documentary "Mais im Bundeshuus" by Jean-Stéphane Bron and the classic film "Les Petites Fugues" (engl.: Little Escapes) by Yves Yersin.
The "outstanding film producer", as the press release put it, was born in 1949. He initially worked as a producer at Filmkollektiv in Zurich, later founding his own companies, Saga Production and Ciné Manufacture, in Lausanne and Paris. He was also committed to the further development of Swiss film policy, the organizers of the Swiss Film Awards added.
Boner was also a co-founder of the association Garp - Gruppe Autoren Regisseure Produzenten. The film producer was also involved in the introduction of Succès Cinéma, Switzerland's performance-based film subsidy, and was the first Secretary General of the French-speaking Swiss film foundation Cinéforom. Boner's many years of involvement in Swiss film policy make him a key figure in the film industry.
The Swiss Film Award will be presented on March 22 at Halle 522 in Zurich. Every year, the film prize honors the most outstanding Swiss films and the most important protagonists of Swiss filmmaking.
