According to the Finance Committee of the National Council (FK-N), there is no financial shortfall in the army, nor is there a liquidity bottleneck. The responsible representatives of the authorities were able to make this credible to the Commission. However, communication errors had occurred.
This was stated by FK-N President Sarah Wyss (SP/BS) to the media in Bern on Friday afternoon. Prior to this, the commission had heard representatives from the Department of Defense (DDPS), the army, the financial administration and the audit office. Among those present were President Viola Amherd and Chief of the Armed Forces Thomas Süssli.
"Information was provided today with great transparency and openness," says Wyss. All open questions have been clarified. The Finance Committee will not be taking any further steps.
"However, we made it quite clear to the DDPS that the communication surrounding the issue was poor," Wyss continued. Mistakes had been made. Defense Minister Amherd was well aware "that something like this must not happen again".
