Five-year-old child is hit by car in Freiburg and dies

A five-year-old child died in an accident in the city of Fribourg on Wednesday evening. According to initial findings, it wanted to cross a crosswalk running when it was hit by a car.
At about 7 p.m., the Fribourg cantonal police were informed of a serious traffic accident in the city of Fribourg, police said Wednesday. Despite the rapid intervention of the rescue forces, the boy died in hospital.
According to the communiqué, the 42-year-old motorist was "severely shocked" and was attended to by a mobile team for psychosocial emergencies. For the purposes of the operation, the road had been closed to traffic for three hours. Investigations have been launched to clarify the circumstances of the accident, it said.
