Heavy rainfall in Switzerland has caused flooding, road closures and water contamination in some regions. The Alpine passes Furka, Susten, Grimsel, Gotthard, Simplon and Nufenen have been closed due to the strong precipitation of the last few days. The Rhine valley in St. Gallen was partially flooded between Kriessern and the Bodenseemündung, with the peak of the flood expected in the afternoon. The canton of Thurgau has also extended its flood warning to the Thur river. In the canton of Ticino, the road to Bleniotal was closed due to the risk of flooding from the Legiuna river. Drinking water has also been contaminated in parts of Bellinzona. In Graubünden, the Splügenpass and the Umbrailpass were still closed due to mudslides and safety reasons. In Sent in the Lower Engadine, a campsite was flooded. In Brienz/Brinzauls, the blockslides at the top of the mountain increased, but there was no immediate danger to the village. According to Meteonews, there is a risk of flooding, mudslides and landslides in the south and north of Switzerland, with more than 200 liters of rain per square meter expected in the south and up to 150 liters in the north.nnnnnnnnnnnn
