Fondation Beyeler Defrauded of Almost One Million Francs

A 54-year-old woman is facing trial at the Basel Criminal Court for allegedly stealing almost one million Swiss francs from the Fondation Beyeler Museum in Riehen BS over an eleven-year period. The woman, who was employed by ISS Facility Services and was in charge of the ticket office from 2010, is accused of pocketing at least 986,126 francs. According to the indictment, she sold tickets without registering them, used emergency tickets and regular tickets to cover up her activities, sold tickets twice and cancelled legitimate ticket sales and pocketed the money. The prosecution has charged her with embezzlement, forgery and money laundering. The trial is scheduled to last three days.nn
